In Print

I was so excited to get and email from our wedding photographer Austin Gros letting me know that he was featured in the December issue of PDN Magazine as one of the up and coming wedding photographers. Not only is his picture on the cover, but guess whose picture made it into the feature? MINE! Here is the picture that is on page 30.

I have never had my picture in a magazine before. How fun is that?! There is a digital edition of the magazine. You have to have a subscription, but the edition link pops up the picture and there is a slideshow too. Or you can check it out on newsstands at your local Barnes and Noble.

Oh Christmas Tree

I can't believe yesterday, Alan and I have been officially married for 6 months! Time has really flown by. And I am so excited to spend our first Christmas together as a married couple. Speaking of Christmas, we got our first Christmas tree this past weekend. It is a seven foot artificial tree with 800 lights. Pre-lit baby! We put it together on Sunday and it looks great even without decorations on it. Because this is our first Christmas together we are working with literally ZERO decorations. So I will keep you updated with what we find and how we decorate the house for my favorite holiday!

Rome: Our Honeymoon

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We did. It was nice spending time with family. But now that they are gone, I have time to share some more pictures from our honeymoon in Rome.

We traveled really light, with only those two bags. It was nice not having to haul tons of bags around.

Made it to Rome and about to take the train to the hotel.

We arrived at 7:30 am and to try and get use to the time change we headed right out to see some sights. No nap.

We started at the classic sights in town, the Forum.

I always like to get audioguides so that I know what I am looking at.

Fall in Rome.

The Forum was huge and attached to Palatine Hill.

Then we headed to the Colosseum.

That night we enjoyed the garden at the hotel and ate some food we picked up at a market.

We visited the National Museum of Rome.

The Trevi Fountain.

Lunch in a square.

Paninis.

Gelato.

Bread, meat and cheese in the hotel room for dinner.

Lunch near the Vatican.

We could see the Vatican City wall across the street while we dinned.

Homemade ravioli and seafood risotto.

The Vatican Museum.

St. Peter's.

More gelato.

Out shopping by the Spanish Steps.

We took a train to Naples and Pompeii.

We got on the wrong train from Naples to Pompeii and got stranded at a random stop in Italy. It was easily fixed though and we were headed in the right direction 15 minutes later.

We ate a picnic lunch in front of the ruins of Pompeii.

Pompeii was by far one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

A whole city just stopped in time.

The brothel was even still there.

That was our trip! I hope you enjoyed all the pictures of our trip. We had a blast!!

Our Honeymoon

We're Back!

Alan and I just got back from 9 days in Rome. It was an amazing honeymoon! We took a ton of pictures that we haven't even started to go through.

We decided to go on our honeymoon 6 months after the wedding and it was the best decision that we have ever made. That way, after the wedding we were able to spend more time with family and friends. And we closed on our house right after, so we were busy moving in.

We had so much fun in Rome and saw so many amazing things. It was Alan's first trip over seas and to another country. We had an amazing time! I can't wait to share more pictures soon.

Entry Rug

We thought the entry was coming together well. We hung some wedding pictures, found an entry table, and hung the mirror. The only thing that it was missing was a rug. We started searching for a fun patterned one and found this one at West Elm.

It is such a fun pattern and really warms up the space. The entry feel more welcoming now.

Here is a view from the other direction.

The only problem that we had was the rug was back ordered FOREVER. We ordered it August 31 and it finally came in 2 months later. Then Bennett welcomed it into the house by peeing on it.

So we rolled it up until he figured out that you use the bathroom outside. Luckily he got the hang of it pretty quickly so the rug is back where it belongs.

Fall Decorations

Remember the mum that I picked up a while ago? Well it bloomed beautifully!

We also picked up some pumpkins to put around it. Because what it fall without pumpkins.

I was using this cool galvanized watering can to water the mum daily. Alan got it from his grandmother and it is just so cute that we leave it by the mum too. Talk about functional decor!

But my favorite thing that we picked up was these corn stalks.

It was Alan's idea and I just love how they look on our pillar.

I just tied them on with the string that bound the stalks together.

Of course we also have our Bama flag supporting fall's favorite sport.

I love fall and it is getting colder and colder every day.

Sooner then we know it winter will be here, but until it is, I am going to keep on loving fall.
