Would you believe me if I told you that I bought this entry table for ten dollars?
Or six of these chairs for ten dollars? Not ten a piece, ten dollars TOTAL for all six of them.
I really don't think I could be more tickled about the situation. It's true; it all came home with me for twenty bucks. Here is how it happened...
On Friday afternoon my Mom mentioned that her friend Leigh was selling some of her furniture. Alan and I know Leigh because she was actually our day-of coordinator for the wedding.
Well, Leigh and her husband are downsizing from about a 4,000 square foot house to a 1,300, so they had some furniture that just wouldn't fit.
The main sale of the furniture was supposed to happen Saturday, but Leigh said that Mom and I could stop by for a little sneak peak. She had so many great pieces that she just wanted to go to good homes. Mom picked out a few items and I set my heart on the entry table and the chairs.
Alan and I have been looking for an entry table for a while now, finding nothing under $100. This one was perfect. We are going to wait until we get an entry rug to decide if we are going to change the finish, color, or pulls.
The chairs, I admit, were more of a whim. I had been brainstorming about wooden chairs for a while, which is never a good thing. Our dining table is on the small side and only four of our upholstered chairs would fit around it, not six.
I really wanted six people to be able to sit if needed. So I have been casually looking on CraigsList to find some wooden chairs for a good deal. That way we could have four wood and two upholstered chairs around the table giving us the six I was longing for.
These chairs were meant to be. Maybe one day they will end up a funky color, but for now the first thing I need to tackle is reupholstering the seat.
After my purchases, I borrowed my parent's trailer and loaded it up. On the way back home that evening, I pulled in the driveway right behind Alan, who had just gotten home from work.
You should have seen the look on that man's face. After working all day, he sees me pull in with a trailer full of furniture, he was not happy. But after I jumped out of the jeep hopping up and down and yelling that I only spent twenty dollars, his frown turned into a smile. I think I even threw some "I ROCKs!" in there for good measure.
We are so happy with the table and the chairs from Leigh. We can't thank her enough for letting us come early for her sale and for the great deal she gave us. It is going to be so much fun deciding what to do with the pieces. You will just have to wait and see!

Wow, what an amazing deal! Those chairs have so much potential!!
