Alan and his brother John did a little antiquing in Athens, Alabama this past weekend. Alan found a gem for only 5 dollars.
What is it you might ask? It is a basket that you put mason jars in and drop them into boiling water while making jams and jellies.
Alan had gotten a lot of old Mason jars out of his Grandmother's attic in Tuscaloosa. We used them for our wedding. He came up with the genius idea of turning it into a decorative light for our patio. So off we went to Walmart to look for some candles. We found some green votives for $4.74.
It adds some color to the table and is safe to be outside. We lit it right away but you couldn't really get the effect. So we tried again at night.
It just turned out so cute. It is amazing how I was just talking the day before about decorating the new patio furniture and Alan comes home with this! I must be making him watch to much HGTV.
Of course I had to act out some scary stories over it. Oooo... Ghosts!
We will get such use out of this on the patio and all for less than 10 dollars for the whole project. You can dig the craziest stuff out of an antique store.
So cute! I really love what you did with the holder. My parents used to make jams all the time when I was growing up. I'm sure all of the supplies are just sitting in the basement waiting for a DIY like this!
